It's truly amazing these ads where run in major publications at one time. It's safe to say none of these ads would ever see the light of day in today's world. It goes to show how much society has evolved in the last 50 years. I've heard if you don't learn from history you're doomed to repeat it. I'm not sure if that's entirely true in this case since you would be fired for even pitching an idea similar to these ads, but it's still fun to walk down memory lane...

Vintage Ads: SEGA's Dirty UK Campaign
Video game makers needed to target specific audiences to be successful in a time where video games were far from mainstream. These SEGA print ads were featured in a British adult comic Viz. This UK comic book catered to the early gamers of the world with incongruous language, crude toilet humor, black comedy, surreal humor and either sexual or violent storylines. Porn for dorks people (I mean this in the nicest way possible being a self-proclaimed dork myself). The ads would never surface in America, definitely not in today's "Politically Correct" society.
